When I breed a litter, I focus on improving the breeding stock that I currently have. Therefore, I will keep the most promising puppies that have the potential to enhance my breeding program. The rest of the litter will be sold on an AKC Limited Registration basis, which means the puppy can not be bred nor shown in conformation, however, it can be shown in all other performance events.
Each breeding will be carefully planned to find the stud dog that will compliment the dam. I breed for the English type confirmation Labrador. My primary concerns with each breeding are health and temperament, but conformation is an integral part of the puzzle. Breeding stock will have their hips and elbows cleared by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). In addition, eyes will be cleared by the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF).
Puppies are whelped and raised in my home where I can monitor their health and personalities. Puppies are vaccinated and wormed on a regular basis until they are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks old.
